First off, I struggled to get into the story. I was at 15% and started to get bored. I pushed through, of course, but ultimately ending up skimming.through to the end.I did enjoy the banter between Jasper and Linden, that was fun. And I liked them well enough, except Jasper was unable to ask for/accept help which drives me nuts.Spoilers...My biggest issue is the sexual content of this book. Early on it's implied that Jasper is gender fluid. She later confirms it.Linden then reveals he is also pansexual and once loved man deeply and was never able to tell him.Even his mother kept saying "even if you bring 2 people to dinner" as if he would be polyamorous.So here's the thing...to each their own, someone's sexuality is their own business. I didn't understand it in this context, it didn't bring anything to the story, except make me wonder if Linden and Jasper would have some sort of open relationship?Because of that, it was like like tossing ice water on the flame's of sexual tension. I felt no chemistry between our characters. Something just felt...off.As for the actual steamy scenes, they did things the same way several times with Linden asserting dominance over Jasper. That sort of ruined her whole tough girl who doesn't need a man facade for me. That's not the kind of intimacy that I personally enjoy reading. It made me uncomfortable a few times.Sorry, this book just wasn't for me. The third book, which reads as a stand alone, of the Santillian Triplet series. For each book I had thoughts on who these triplets were, and while I was familiar with Magnolia from the Walsh series, both of her brothers were not at all what I imagined from that first family dinner in The Magnolia Chronicles.Linden, a sweet quiet lumberbear of a man, who is a little too protective for his own good. Jasper-Anne, the fiesty, give no Fs, boss lady who has to reflect and essentially rebuild her life. I absolutely loved these two and in no way will my words to their story justice, but this will definitely be one of those books that I go back to over and over.From the very beginning, the chemistry between Linden and Jasper is on fire even though the very first meeting involves words being had. However, when they aren't at each other's throats, the raw honesty of their conversations is both heart-warming and breaking. While we see Jasper evolve more than Linden because of what she's dealing with, there is still a depth to his character by how he observes Jasper and how he cares for her. I will say this, for as much as Linden pulls from Jasper, I would have liked to have a little bit more of the reverse.I think this might be some the author's steamiest work. These two are filthy dirty birds, and it is everything (I just want a book about Linden and Jasper's sexy times, I want Linden and Jasper erotica [yes, I said it]). The discussion between Linden and Jasper about their sexuality, and how blunt and direct, it was glorious. The overall feel of how the sexuality was handled in the book, overall was point. I'm going to need more of that in my books.Things to note: The first section of Chapter 23 is complete and utter comedic gold. The party at the country club; Linden and Jasper walking in with Magnolia, Ash, and their significant others, and the conversation between Linden and Ash in the hallway, just made me love this family even more, I can't stand it.
